A great opportunity for guests to explore and experience the many faces of Bulgaria. Not only will our tour take you to stunning scenery and ancient towns, it will also give you an enjoyable insight into the food, wines, culture and history which are a part of everyday life in Bulgaria.
This holiday can be enjoyed as either a tour only or coupled with an extra week on the Black Sea coast.
Day 1, Sunday: Arrive at Bourgas airport.
Transfer to Bourgas town for overnight stay.
Day 2, Monday:
After breakfast leave for Plovdiv via Stara Zagora, where lunch is taken. Arrive in Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second largest city with a wealth of history and culture. Enjoy a walking tour in the old town of Plovdiv. Overnight stay in Plovdiv.
Day 3, Tuesday:
After breakfast depart from Plovdiv to Bansko, travelling through small local villages. A picnic lunch amidst the peaceful scenery of the Rhodope mountains before arriving in Bansko. Dinner and overnight in Bansko.
Day 4, Wednesday:
Depart for a sightseeing tour of the Rila Monastery, the largest and the most impressive cultural monument from the Bulgarian National Revival period. After lunch had on to the capital, Sofia for a sightseeing tour, dinner and overnight.
Day 5, Thursday:
Depart for Veliko Tarnovo with a guided tour of the Etara open air museum en route, a reproduction of an authentic Bulgarian village set in a picturesque valley, followed by lunch in a Bulgarian cuisine restaurant. After lunch continue to the medieval city of Veliko Tarnavo, once the capital of the second Bulgarian Kingdom. Guided tour of the hills of Tsarevets, and impregnable fortress which became the centre of Tarnovo in the 12th century. Later depart for one of the most picturesque villages in Bulgaria - Arbanassi, where you will enjoy dinner and overnight.
Day 6, Friday:
After breakfast, enjoy a short sightseeing tour of Arbanassi. Depart to Varna, stopping in Shoumen for lunch and wine tasting before heading on. Once in Varna, sightseeing tour of Varna town. Dinner and overnight in Varna town.
Day 7, Saturday:
Morning drive from Varna to the Southern Black Sea coast. Sightseeing tour of Sunny Beach and Nessebar. Lunch in Nessebar. Overnight in Bourgas.
Day 8, Sunday:
Transfer to Bourgas airport for your return flight to the UK.
